Download appropriate driver for Nikon D90 for your operating system from our website. So I've had my D90 for a while. I've always used a card reader to transfer pictures to my Windows XP computer. I recently downloaded a trial version of Nikon's Camera Control 2 software and hooked up my D90 to my PC using the USB cable that came with the camera. When I plug it in, Windows goes through the process of recognizing a new device but it can't find any suitable drivers for it. So basically, the Nikon Camera Control 2 software says that there is no camera connected. First I thought was 'Just on Nikons website and download D90 Windows XP Drivers'. Easier said than done. I don't seem to see any drivers on Nikons site or any other site out there. I can't find any at all. Next I realized that the drivers are probably on the CD that came with my D90. I looked through the box, and while I still have all the product manuals and information, I don't see the CD. I assume either drivers are on that CD or drivers are automatically installed when I install the (probably crappy) Nikon software from the CD. I also tried a trial version of software called NXRemote but it also cannot see the D90. So anyways, I'm stuck. What do I do? Where do I get drivers? Do I need to install special software for Windows XP to see my D90? Can someone tell me exactly what I need? Or where can I download the contents of the original D90 CD from the internet (I'm everything on that CD is shareware or free software)? It kind of baffles me that Nikon wouldn't even have something basic like device drivers for download on their website. Can anyone help me? I installed Nikon Transfer, and View NX from the CD that came with my D90. I have two PC's running different versions of XP (Home, and Proffesional), and they both automatically start Nikon Transfer when I plug the USB cable in (along with the Windows autostart window with various options). When I am finished downloading images from the camera View NX automatically starts to view the new files. I also have an early version of PS Elements on one of the PC's that always wants to do the deed as well. So I always have to cancel the Adobe file downloader. Mike I also downloaded an update to each program from the Nikon site after installation. Is it possible you are running 64bit XP? I ran into the same problem for my D60, PTP only, on my desktop Win7 x64. My other laptops running XP, Win7 x32, and Win7 x64 has no problem to see the D60. After I installed MS Media Player 12, the PTP works and the desktop can see the D60. NikonNX, Nikon Transfer also works after that. It seems the Media Player add the PTP driver in to my desktop. Hope this help. I know it is frustrated when it is not working. Jakobud wrote: I have the latest version of Nikon Transfer already installed. It does not see my D90. The stupid manual even says that Nikon Transfer will automatically start when i turn on my camera when its plugged in. It does not do this. And starting up Nikon Transfer manually, it still does not find my camera. I have gotten the camera to work on my laptop. I just installed Nikon Transfer and I guess that software installs the proper driver in the background. I plug in my camera and turn it on and it recognizes it. So its definitely something to do with Windows on my desktop. I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Nikon Transfer multiple times and it does not seem to install the driver for the D90, even though I used the exact same EXE to install Nikon Transfer on the laptop. Can someone here plz look on the CD that came with the D90 I tell me whats on there? Is there a driver folder or an INF folder of any kind? Would anyone be kind enough to zip up the contents of the CD and post it or something? I know that the current Camera Control Pro trial version does not support the D90, but if you have the update, I'm not sure what the problem could be.
